Katerina Adam is a Partner in the Energy & Resources department of Grant Thornton Greece and brings multiple years of professional experience in the Sustainable Development of Mineral Resources, Environmental Management and Permitting.
She is Professor Emerita at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Mining and Metallurgical Engineer from NTUA, holding an M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the School of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science University of Minnesota, USA
She has held senior positions in the mining industry, research institutes, and was a Founding Member and Scientific Advisor of the Greek consultancy firm ECHMES Ltd. She has served as an expert for the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy (ΥPΕΝ), European Union and the UNDP.
She has a strong track record in coordinating more than 200 specialized studies and 60 EU-funded and national research programs, with a particular focus on the sustainable development of raw materials, circular economy, green transition and the development of novel education tools for the enhancement of soft skills and entrepreneurship in engineering students and professionals.
She participates as representative of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (YPEN) in the “Public Knowledge” sub-group of the European Critical Raw Materials Board (CRM Act) (2025–present), she is Special Advisor to the YPEN Study Group for the Special Spatial Planning Framework for Mineral Raw Materials (SSPF MRM) (2019–present), Advisor on Education to the EIT Raw Materials Representative Greece(2019–present), Member of the Environmental Permitting Working Group of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises and Industries (SEV) (2018–present).
